Hello, fellow Denver Lions. This is another update on how your donations are being put to good use through your Denver Lions Foundation.
I believe this has been a record year, and we still have two more months to go. Total donations from individuals are over $17,000, and 72% of our membership has donated!
We still need the other 28% to step up! Send in $5 or whatever fits your budget, but we want to show to possible grant sources next year that everyone in our club donates! It’s easy to do. Just go to https://www.denverlions.org/page/denver-lions-foundation and click on the Donate button or just send a check to our office at 1373 Grant St, Denver, CO 80203.
Another record is in what we have funded so far. $174,000 has gone to many individuals and organizations that align with our four pillars: Sight, Youth, Hearing, and Social. We have directly affected over 500 individuals, which may be a low estimate given the number of people served through our International Missions and the emergency donation we made to the Kerrville, Texas Lions Club.
Did you know??? We help fund major eye surgeries with the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank to the tune of nearly $10,000. RMLEB pays 80%, and we pay 20% of the cost of surgeries approved for this funding by the RMLEB board of directors. Much thanks to our Suzanne Saenz, who coordinates all this for our club. She is doing Herculean work for us!
For the year-end, June 30, we are forecasting our total funding to be close to $200,000!
