It's getting close to a year since we started our new website:  www.denverlions.org.  As a way to move forward, we also need to take a look at how we've been doing. In order to do this for our website, we use Google Analytics. Google Analytics is a service that tracks and reports website traffic for the purposes of understanding and optimizing web usage, this can help us greatly when assessing and improving the effectiveness of our website.

Here is a summary of key data for the month of June:

760 hits to the website.  The number of times someone is actively engaged in the website.

644 Number of users who visited the site. 80% of these were new people and 20% were returning users such as a member.

1,526 Total number of pages views by the number of users.

2.01 Pages view in each session.

1.3 average minutes per session.

63%  Bounce rate or the percentage of users who looked only at the home page.

54% Male and 46% Female

What does this tell us? We are having a good number of people visit our website. The home page is important when it comes to grabbing the attention of the first time visitor. A large number of our traffic (63%) only see the home page, which can be a very good thing since our home page has lot of information. However, because we want people to be interested in more than just our home page, we need to be diligent about updating it.  The other people who are staying longer are looking at many pages.  We believe there's a link between the website and the club's Facebook page.  When we post on Facebook people are interested in what we are doing, wants to see more and head over to our website. This is all part of our public relations campaign. There is a lot more data in Google Analytics which we will continue to assess and share with members so, stay tuned!
