Our new District Governor is Denver Lion, Steve Allen. He was presented the gavel for District 6C by the current District Governor, Carol Young.  This unique gavel has been passed down since 1959. The oldest inscription I can find on this 6C gavel reads "Littleton Nov. 17 1959".  The central location of this inscription on the gavel's head suggests to me that the Littleton Lions Club was the source of the gavel. (Partly visible in the photo, in front of my left arm, you can see "ton" upside down) . 6C's 1959-60 DG was Kenneth K King so he was probably the first DG to hold it.  Inscriptions on the gavel hint at an era now gone, when there was more interaction among Lions clubs, and Lions had more fun.  The inscriptions say that it was "stolen" by the Lakewood Lions in 1960, "swiped" by the Northglenn Lions in May 1964 (a possible time for a State convention), and "filched" by the Westminster Lions the next day.  We haven't totally lost our sense of fun, however; another inscription reads "6SE Rules! 4/2016" which indicates that it was at least briefly in hostile foreign hands.
