COLERC is incorporated as a Colorado nonprofit and has 501(c) (3) status from the IRS. COLERC is structured along the lines of other Colorado Lions entities. Every Lion in Colorado is a member of COLERC. The first annual meeting was held during the State Lions Convention on April 23rd, 2025. The approved By-Laws of COLERC establish the initial Board of Directors as the five members of the committee that formed COLERC. The interim Board members are:

Lion John Spice (Golden), President
Lion Dave Newman (Englewood) Vice President
Lion Fletcher Brown (Denver) Secretary
Lion Dwight Steen (Denver) Treasurer
Lion DG Carol Young (Arvada) Member

At the 2026 conventions, each district will have the opportunity to elect a new Board Member, plus one at-large member to be elected at the MD6 Convention. Initial terms will be staggered as follows:
  • District 6W and the At-large member will have a 3-year term.
  • District 6NE and 6C will be a 2-year term.
  • District 6SE will be a 1-year term.
  • All terms after that will be 3 years.
Trustees must be members in good standing for more than two years of any Colorado Lions Club. Colorado Lions who are considering a COERC Board position are encouraged to become familiar with the operations of COLERC. Anyone wishing to visit COLERC should contact a Board member.

Anyone interested in being a COLERC trustee should contact their District Governor.
