Hope you are having a great summer so far. Unfortunately, our fellow Lions in Kerrville, TX are not. I'm sure you have heard about the huge flood they recently had there, with loss of life, and still many people, including kids, are missing. I reached out to the President of the Kerrville Heart 'O the Hills Lions Club in Kerrville and asked him what help fellow Lions from Denver could give him. Here is his response:
Currently, the only volunteers needed in Kerr County are trained rescue and recovery personnel and K-9 Units, as the recovery process is ongoing. We still have 126 people unaccounted for. Once that is done, we will be looking for. Olinteers to help repair residences and businesses affected by the flood.
Any monetary contributions can be made to the Kerrville Host Lions Club Foundation at P.O. Box 290972, Kerrville, Texas 78029. Please include '2025 Flood Relief' in the memo section of the check.
As the President of the Denver Lions Foundation and in agreement with the board of trustees, we wish to make a monetary donation to the club for its use in assisting members, neighbors, and friends who have been affected by this devastating disaster. We agreed to donate $10,000 to them so that it will make a meaningful impact, hopefully.
My request to you: If you typically donate to our foundation every year, I would like to ask that you consider making another donation soon to help defray this unbudgeted expense. If you can double what you normally give, that would be fantastic, but any amount will do
If you have not been donating to the foundation, please consider doing so at least once to help support this cause. Any amount is very appreciated.
We need to show our compassion and understanding of what our fellow Lions are going through in Kerrville. Hopefully, this donation will be of some assistance. Let's show them what the Denver Lions are all about - serving others, especially when they are in desperate need.
Please don't earmark your additional donation for this request. We'll know that you cared, and we'll give a report to you by the first meeting in September.
Yours in Lionism
Steven A Krebsbach
President, Denver Lions Foundation
