Originally from Virginia, Steve attended the College of William and Mary, where he met his wife, Past Council Chair Holly Rutherford-Allen. He and Holly moved to Colorado in 1988 and would never dream of leaving. They are proud parents of two adult children, a daughter, Leslie, and a son, Andrew. Holder of graduate degrees in economics and accounting, Steve has worked as a college professor, teaching accounting and economics, and as an employee of the Colorado General Assembly.
Steve Allen became a Lion in 2010 and has served in various roles within his club and district. He is currently Treasurer of the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute Foundation, a member of the Schuyler Scholarship Committee, and First Vice District Governor of District 6C. His one-year term as District Governor will begin in July 2026. Steve is a progressive Melvin Jones Fellow and has received the Lions International President’s Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of his service.
