Allie and her mother were anxious about Allie's first day of school this year. Last year was very hard on the family and finances were tight, making back-to-school shopping impossible. Thanks to the generosity of community members, Allie was able to submit a wish list for Savio's Back to School Drive. She was paired with a shopper who helped Allie feel ready to take on a new year.

When her therapist came by to drop off the items, Allie tried them all on right away. Her favorite pieces were a lilac polo and a pair of black jeans. Allie said that they were so fancy, she would be the best-dressed girl in her sophomore class. Allie's mom breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that her daughter had something that was helping her look forward to starting a new school year.

Over 130 students were matched with community members as a part of our Back to School Drive. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Due to the overwhelming response to our Back to School Drive, Savio is launching a Family Needs Committee. This group will work to provide access to things that many of Savio’s low-income families find just out of reaches such as a new outfit for the first day of school, holiday presents, or a fun family experience.
