“Steve McNamara is a Research Scientist at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine, specializing in clinical optometry, clinical research, and artificial intelligence. His work focuses on blending AI with clinical practices to enhance various aspects of ophthalmology, including the design of clinical trials, decision-making in treatment and management, and optimizing patient care operations. Steve's notable research includes developing sophisticated image registration algorithms and diagnostic models using advanced language technologies, which are instrumental in tracking disease progression and improving patient outcomes. Founded in 2022, our faculty at the Division of Artificial Medical Intelligence in Ophthalmology work every day to incorporate AI methods into patient care, leading to a more proactive healthcare approach, identifying patterns and trends in individuals and populations throughout and beyond the Rocky Mountain region to improve outcomes and efficiencies. Our team works on projects like using AI to diagnose eye conditions like glaucoma reliably and working with the Michael J. Fox Foundation to help AI find signs of Parkinson's Disease early.
