• Name, spouse/partner name, kids, grandkids: Sheila Van de Graaph. I have a wonderful 14-year-old daughter, Telnah Kristin, who is currently in 9th grade. She’s an avid tennis player and a constant source of inspiration in my life.
  • Where were you born and raised?: I was born and raised in Kenya, a beautiful country that greatly shaped my worldview and commitment to service. I have had the opportunity to work in 12 countries at various Executive and strategic positions.
  • Current job or retired job: I am the Executive Director of YouthRoots, a Statewide nonprofit focused on empowering youth to create meaningful change in their communities.
  • Hobbies or interests: I love dancing, traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
  • I joined the Denver Lions because…: I admire the club’s mission and community impact. Joining provides an opportunity to give back, connect with like-minded individuals, and be part of something bigger than myself.
  • What I hope to accomplish as a Lion: I hope to contribute to meaningful service projects, build strong community connections, and inspire others to join in making a difference.
  • What three words best describe you?: Dedicated, passionate, and adventurous.
  • Name a few bucket list items for you: Exploring more of the world (mainly South America) and writing a book that inspires youth and community leaders.
  • When you were a child, what did you want to do when you grew up? I wanted to be an Ambassador or diplomat. I am not sure how far or close I am to this journey.
  • What was one of your biggest accomplishments?: Leading transformative initiatives across 12 countries and being recognized with several local and global awards for my work in youth empowerment and development.
  • Where did you go to school?: I earned a Master of Arts in International Development from the University of Denver, a Master’s in Gender and Development Studies, and a Bachelor’s in Anthropology from the University of Nairobi (Kenya).
  • What else should we know about you?: I’m passionate about creating opportunities for youth and marginalized communities. My diverse experiences and international background deeply inform my work and personal mission.
