WorldDenver Hosting

My name is Madeleine, and I’m contacting you from WorldDenver, a local nonprofit dedicated to connecting Denver with the world through short-term professional and youth exchange programs for international visitors; speaker series events on foreign policy issues; and an international travel program. The exchange programs we implement are sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and bring emerging leaders from all over the world to the U.S. for short-term leadership development programs.

This summer and fall we are hosting delegations in need of 1-4 week homestays with local families, these delegations include: Youth Ambassadors France (October 22 - October 31) Professional Fellows (October 18- November 19) Russia Open World (December 6- December 14) Our expectations for Homestay Hosts are that the Host family would:
  • Provide a welcoming home that is respectful of other cultures
  • Treat your guest(s) like a member of your family
  • Share your favorite cultural parts of the city and state with the visitors
  • Provide a room with an individual bed & access to a shared bathroom (youth can share rooms, must have individual bed)
  • Provide 2 meals/day Monday-Friday, 3 meals/day on weekends (dietary restrictions may apply)
  • Transportation: Students will need to be dropped off/picked up at WorldDenver office; Professionals: public transportation to/from worksite placements, Monday – Friday, support is appreciated
Homestay Hosting is a great way to travel the world without leaving your home. There is no ideal age family composition, or neighborhood as our homestay hosts come from a variety of backgrounds. WorldDenver does try to pair participants based on Host availability, giving preference to Hosts who can host for the entire program, however please do let us know if you have partial availability! WorldDenver truly values our Homestay families as they are the backbone of our programs and we could not do these programs without the support provided by our Homestay Hosts. It is because of this that we offer a year membership to WorldDenver as a thank you to our hosts. We also provide a tax form at the end so you can claim this as a write off.
