Speaker March 11
John Peterson of Edward Jones has agreed to speak about Social Security.

During my 22 years as a financial advisor with Edward Jones, no three words have been more important to me and to our branch team. In an increasingly complex financial world, finding help from experienced financial professionals with clarity of purpose and a truly service-minded value system is becoming increasingly difficult. I partner with my Branch Office Administrator, Nancy Zambo, to serve you, your family, and our community – not the other way around. Nancy and I have worked together with this purpose for over 21 years, and we intend to do so for many years to come.

We start with focused service. Our focus is to deliver comprehensive advice that helps you navigate the major decisions you must make as you near or enter retirement. Our service does not stop by offering guidance on what to do, which is where many advisors finish. We try to go further by partnering with you to help you meet your goals. This partnership includes being with you as you visit your local Social Security office, helping you plan your budget, and facilitating the scheduling of an appointment with your accountant or attorney. We do our best to coach you every step of the way.

We create an experience that treats you like family. Family is about genuine, straightforward relationships, not industry lingo. Our ultimate compliment is hearing our clients say "they feel like family" when they visit our office.

We aim to be consistent stewards of our community. I have often served in a leadership capacity within Edward Jones since 2005. I live with my wife, Tiffany, and our three children in Ken-Caryl; we are passionate about being active in our community. We view giving back to our neighborhood and corporate communities as a responsibility to say "thank you" for supporting our branch.

Our most immense pride as a branch has been our recognition for helping people, not for the revenues we accumulate. In 2020, we received the Spirit of Caring award, which recognizes financial advisors who exemplify the values, culture, and spirit of giving back.

COLERC - 700 Eyeglass Processed
Lions from Denver, Cyber, and Lafayette clubs processed over 700 eyeglasses and packaged 25 boxes of glasses to be ready to ship to where needed. Five new easy-to-use lens analyzers enable teams to process many more glasses. This team deserves a big LIONS ROAR.

COLERC - 501C3
Great News - The IRS has given Colorado Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center -COLERC Public Charity Status - 501(c)(3). This is important as COLERC is a project of the Colorado Lions project.

A big Lions ROAR for Lion Dwight Steen for all the work of doing this.
COLERC - New Lensometers
This is a game changer in processing eyeglasses at COLERC. We have purchased four state-of-the-art lensometers, Topcon Solos. Feedback from volunteers has shown that lensometers are very difficult for some people to use, particularly on multifocal. The time to read the Rx and bag the glasses was slow.

This is exciting –the new Topcon Solos is entirely automated (except for bagging). Analyzing and bagging take less than two minutes per eyeglass. We estimate this can be twice or faster than the previous lensometer and substantially more accurate.
