COLERC - New Lensometers
This is a game changer in processing eyeglasses at COLERC. We have purchased four state-of-the-art lensometers, Topcon Solos. Feedback from volunteers has shown that lensometers are very difficult for some people to use, particularly on multifocal. The time to read the Rx and bag the glasses was slow.

This is exciting –the new Topcon Solos is entirely automated (except for bagging). Analyzing and bagging take less than two minutes per eyeglass. We estimate this can be twice or faster than the previous lensometer and substantially more accurate.

Non Lion Groups at COLERC
COLERC has been reaching out to non-Lions organizations to expand the pool of volunteers. This quarter, the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Colorado, Uber Freight, Denver Community Church and Christ, and Rooted 303 have all volunteered once. COLERC is reaching out to them for additional sessions.

This is where you can help. Outside groups can help us process more glasses. Do you know a company or organization that has volunteer days? Maybe groups of students need to volunteer. Groups do not need to be large—at least four people but no more than eight.
COLERC GE Volunteers
The General Electric Appliance divisions contact COLERC for volunteering opportunities. Sixteen members of their sales team volunteered at COLERC for four hours, processing hundreds of eyeglasses. They were impressed with the COLERC operation and all the service Lions do.

One of the bottlenecks in processing glasses is the washing/sanitizing/drying. The GE team donated a new dishwasher.

If you know of an organization or company that offers volunteer days, please contact COLERC. This is a great way to process more glasses and increase awareness of LIONS.
