Speaker - Fred Brown - Jan 25 Zoom meeting
Fred Brown, a retired political columnist and editor for The Denver Post, also taught media ethics at the University of Denver for 15 years.  He is a former national president of the Society of Professional Journalists and is the author/editor of the 2011 and 2020 editions of SPJ's ethics book.  He is a graduate of Colorado State and Northwestern universities.
 
 "Real Problems and Fake News."
 
 This will be a very current topic - How to tell real news from fake news, and opinion from straight reporting -- in the context of today's political climate.
Change in Lion Meetings
With the abundance of caution caused by Covid Omicron the Lion Board has changed the Lion meetings back to Zoom meetings for the next month or so.  We will continue to assess the situation.  As before prior to the meeting we will send zoom login information.
Service Tuesday - Sorting Glasses Feb 1
The Denver Lions collects used glasses from 100+ boxes.  We now need to sort the glasses. We have well over a thousand glasses that need sorting.  At this Service Tuesday, we will sort the damaged and scratched glasses and pack them in boxes for further processing.  
 
We need a lot of help as we have a lot of glasses.    Come sort and have lunch.

Lion Jim Nussbaum Donation
 
Lion James Nussbaum (9/12/1935 - 01/26/2021) in his will made a substantial donation to the Denver Lions Foundation.  
 
Lion James Gordon Nussbaum, age 85, passed away peacefully on the evening of January 26, 2021. Jim was born on September 12, 1935, in Joliet, Illinois. He graduated from the University of Illinois where he also received advanced education in finance and became a CPA.
 
Since 1971, Jim has lived in the Denver area where he and Helen raised their family. Helen passed in February 2013. Jim had a highly successful and respected career as the Managing Partner of Price, Waterhouse LLP, CPAs. He was also deeply involved in his Church and many professional, civic, and service organizations.
 
Lion James Nussbaum joined the Lions Club in Chicago in the 1960s and transferred to the Denver Lions Club in 1972. He served the Club as a director from 1975-1977 and from 1881-1985. He served as Vice President and then President in 1984-85. He also served as a trustee of the Denver Lions Foundation from 1978-81. He was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship in 2004. During his many years of membership, he sponsored more than 15 new members into the Club.
 
Denver Lions appreciate his donation and he continues to support Denver Lions.  Jim will be remembered. 
Lions Eye Bank Annual Report
The Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank provided many with eyesight.  See the Anual Report for details.  In Summary for 2020-2021:
 
+   2,632  eye donors gave the gift of sight
+   2,288  eye issues were used in sight-restorative transplants and reconstruction.
+   254     eye tissues were used by RMLEB or other research centers to advance surgical techniques and innovations to fight blindness.
