We have a special speaker at our meeting on September 23. Ron Thomas, Denver Chief of Police, will be speaking. We sent an Evite. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that you RSVP if you are planning to attend, and with the number of guests. This is important as we need to prepare food and change rooms if we have more than our typical meeting.

Come to the Denver Den sorting event. At the last event, 34 volunteer Lions, friends, and family sorted 20,000 eyeglasses. Many hands make short work of the project.

Lions have partnered with Ridwell to collect eyeglasses for recycling. Ridwell is a company that collects hard-to-recycle items and finds innovative ways to recycle them. Items such as multi-layer films (snack bags), styrene films, dry cleaning bags, and more. They run eyeglass collection campaigns twice a year.
This display illustrates the Recycle for Sight process, which involves first collection, then processing at COLERC, and finally distribution around the world. This display is available for tabletop displays on what Lions do.
This year, I have the honor of serving as President of the Denver Lions Foundation, following David Lambert, who did an outstanding job guiding us forward. A special thanks also goes to Jim Hannifin, whose tireless work helped restore strength and stability to our Foundation.
I’m equally grateful to our Trustees for their dedication and leadership:
Sally Hooks, Secretary, Shyam Rangole, Treasurer
Dotti Lynn, Norma Aguilar-Dave, Ben Brown, Andrew Neal, Adam Kerhli, Dan Kiel
And our Immediate Past President, David Lambert
Together, they have helped place our Foundation on a firm footing for the future.
Today, our endowment and operating accounts total just over $3 million, up from $2.8 million last year, thanks to sound investments. Those funds allow us to make a lasting difference in four core areas: Sight, Hearing, Youth Services, and Social Services.
Recent highlights include:
A $10,000 grant to the Lions Club in Kerrville, TX, supporting flood recovery efforts.
Funding for additional sight-saving surgeries, in partnership with RMLEB.
A $40,000 contribution to Savio House to build a new playground for children.
$3,400 contribution to Mile High Early Learning for a project to take kids to the Zoo
$671 requested by Lion John Love to Co Legal Services to avoid an eviction
Looking ahead, my goals as President are twofold:
Communicate more regularly with you, the club, so you see the impact of our Foundation’s work month by month.
Grow donations, both within and outside our club, to restore the strong giving tradition that has fueled our mission for decades. Every gift, large or small, helps us change lives.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment. Together, we are building a stronger, more compassionate community.
Yours in Lionsism Steven A. Krebsbach President, Denver Lions Foundation
The Denver Lions do not conduct fundraisers as a way to raise money for the foundation. We rely principally on your compassion and generous donations, knowing the good work that we do—a huge thank you to all who have contributed over the years.
The goal this year is to have every member donate something to the foundation. Other service clubs require members to donate a minimum amount to maintain their membership. We do not have a minimum requirement, but we kindly ask that you consider making a donation.
Your support—whether big or small—directly fuels our ability to serve and make a difference in the lives of those who need us most.
Together, we can accomplish so much more.
Thank you for your continued dedication and generosity.

Lion Doug Wright, first time KidSight screening at the Auraria Early Learning Center. Lion Steve Krebs was the trainer. We need screeners. Vision screening events are weekday mornings, generally from 9 to noon. It is easy to do after one or two training sessions. This is a hands-on service. When you screen a kid and they are referred, you know you made a difference in the child's life.
Thanks to Lion Doug for being a KidSight screener.
