We ship unusable eyeglasses or excess inventory to ReSpec, a California company that has found a profitable way to recycle lenses, plastic, and metal frames. They have a proprietary process that separates the eyeglass parts. They pay us for the glasses we ship to them, and the funds are used to support COLERC. This also prevents thousands of eyeglasses from going to landfills. The last shipment to ReSpec was about 2,000 lbs. Some of the other LREC send eyeglasses to ReSpec.
