The Colorado Lions Foundation continues to maintain the funds with the help of our investment
partner Edward Jones for different entities in the Colorado Lions Universe. We are holding
(as of January) $2,176,594 in funds, with $1,518,025 directly held by the foundation and the
remainder being held and providing investment income for different clubs, districts, and programs.
These balances provide income for projects around the state.
Some of the CLF accomplishments this year were the transfer of funds from the past Westwood
Lions to the Colorado Lions camp for their continuing refurbishment and fire mitigation needs. In
addition, funds have been distributed for new eyeglass lensometers, roofing projects, park
improvements, learning projects, and other great projects.
I am happy to report that we again provide scholarships to a high school student in each
district from the Schuyler scholarship fund. The fund of over $300 thousand continues to generate
enough investment income to provide for this scholarship for years. Please pass the word
to Lion’s members as the application deadline is approaching soon. More information on how to apply
can be found on the Colorado Lion Foundation webpage under scholarships. Thanks to all the
scholarship selection committee for their work this spring.
Again, a way for individuals or corporations to donate to your Lions Club with a TAX DEDUCTION if
your club does not have 501-c status is to donate to the CLF to be held for the benefit of your
club. Once the CLF holds the funds, we can distribute them back to your club for specific
projects.
We plan on holding special recognition for clubs that have made donations or are holding funds
with the CLF at the state convention this year. If you are in need of funds for a project beyond the
reach of your local club, don't hesitate to get in touch with your district representative in order to fill out a request.
